Micaela McNulty

Practitioner

I grew up in Northern California, riding horses from a very young age, and since then my love and appreciation of horses has only grown. I have been trimming professionally since 2020, and achieved my PHCP Practitioner certification in 2024, but the learning never stops; I am always continuing my education, to better serve each horse in my care.

I specialize in barefoot hoof care. My trimming is individualized for each horse (and each hoof), and I take a whole-horse approach – addressing nutrition, environment, and movement, to support the healthiest hooves possible. A healthy, sound hoof is built from the inside out, and often, making even small changes in management can help horses really thrive. I usually keep horses on a 4-5 week trim schedule, as I’ve found that this is an optimal interval for maintaining and promoting healthy hooves. The greatest joy in my work is connecting with horses and their humans, and being a resource to empower horse owners to provide the best possible life for their equine partners. I also enjoy teaming up with other equine professionals – vets, bodyworkers, nutritionists – as the horse benefits the most when we work together.

I have experience trimming for rehab, barefoot transition, and performance. I fit and carry hoof boots and also offer hoof casting when needed. I welcome all equines, including minis, ponies, drafts, mules and donkeys. I am a good fit for owners who want their horses on a regular trim schedule, and who want to take an active role in supporting healthy hooves. This may include wanting to do some of your own trimming, which I am always happy to support.

I moved from California to Vermont in summer 2024, and have been re-building my business here, so I am accepting new clients. I serve Addison County and parts of Chittenden, Washington, Rutland, and Orange Counties. I prefer to stay within 50 miles of my home in Starksboro, but will consider going farther on a case-by-case basis if you are near an area where I already go. For horses located more than 30 miles from Starksboro, I charge a travel fee, and prefer groups of 2 or more. If you are interested in my services, please reach out! I’d love to talk with you about what you’re looking for and how I can help. The best way to contact me is by email or phone call.
