Joe McLean

Practitioner

I’m a second generation farrier and started my career in 1991. I attended Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School in Elk Grove California and graduated in 1992.
Barefoot as a year round alternative to traditional shoes came on my radar in 2005. I was recovering from a back injury sustained at work and while on a hike I had a chance meeting with a rider on her horse that was wearing hoof boots. The rider gave me Pete Ramey’s first book to read and they became my first “barefoot” client.
My goal is to try to bridge the gap between the Farrier world view and the Barefoot approach. Becoming a Certified PHCP Practitioner is another step towards accomplishing this task.
My book is full with some exceptions made on a case by case basis.
I’m currently only working in the Saanich Peninsula area
Best way to reach me is by text or email.
