Geri White

Practitioner, Mentor

I came to natural horse and hoof care because of lameness issues that kept creeping up on my horse when he was shod. A warmer than usual winter had me riding him for 3 months barefooted, as I always pulled shoes for the winter months. A happier riding horse and a magazine article that asked “Is Barefoot for Your Horse”, opened the door to thinking differently about what I was doing. I was hooked.

I learned to trim my own horses with, AAEP Certified Hoof Care Professional, Amy Sheehy in 2007, and then applied to the Equine Sciences Academy where I was accepted and awarded an Excellence Scholarship for my studies. I became the first student to earn an Equine Sciences Degree and Natural Hoof Care Certification from the ESA. I currently serve the ESA as a Field Instructor. I was certified by the American Hoof Association in 2010, where I served on the Education Committee as a member, then as Chair until I was elected President where I served 2 consecutive terms.

I was a contributing writer for Equine Wellness Magazine.

My areas of travel in NY include the following counties:
Otsego, Montgomery, Schoharie, Greene, Columbia, Northern Dutchess

I am accepting clients on a limited basis depending on the case and area. I focus mostly on difficult cases. I have applied the Cherokee Way of Right Relationship through the Four Directions to my work with horses and owners. I know and have trained many trimmers in and around my areas of travel and can refer if needed.

Mentorships:
I am passionate about holistic horse care as it correlates to hoof care and have worked extensively with practitioners in various modalities who are like-minded.
In addition to trimming, diet, movement, environment, use, proper dentistry, saddle fitting, complementary and integrative therapies as well as relationship issues are at the core of my focus both in my practice and instruction with students. I have instructed many students in the Equine Sciences Academy from beginner students to interns for their certification, and I am looking forward to mentoring PHCP students of every level.
